Race Weekend Volunteers
Marine Corps Marathon,
October 29, 30, and 31, 2010

You can volunteer to support race weekend for as few as three (3) hours for any one of the fun activities listed below over the three-day period.  No special skills are required, other than enthusiasm for our runners and wounded service personnel.  Volunteer certificates will be available for anyone needing to document their community support hours for their school or club.   MCM

1. Staff the Team Azalea Charities booth at the MCM Health & Fitness Expo (for one three-hour shift) on October 29 or 30 at the Washington Convention Center (Metro Yellow or Green Line, Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St. Convention Center Station)

  • Greet our runners and answer questions about the team and our charities (info about the charities to be provided to you in advance; expo hours of operation to be provided)

2. Spectators on Sunday, October 31, 2010, to be at pre-selected spots on the race course (Metro Yellow, Blue, or Orange Lines, various stations)

  • Wear a Team Azalea Charities shirt, hold a sign, make noise with a cow bell and cheer on the runners!

3. Staff the Team Azalea Charities finish line tent in Charity Village on Sunday, October 31, 2010, located on the grounds of the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial; hours to staff the tent to be provided (Iwo Jima Monument) (Metro Orange Line, Rosslyn Station)

  • Greet our runners with a congratulatory handshake, hand out food, and offer thanks for their fundraising
