Lockheed Martin Supports
Our Troops through Azalea Charities Aid for Wounded Warriors

Prince William County, VA October 20, 2011 – Lockheed Martin has contributed a check for $1000 to support Azalea Charities’ Aid for Wounded Warriors. The funds will be used to support Team Azalea Charities efforts in the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon as well as for the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and other local military medical facilities.

Lockheed Martin’s contribution will help Team Azalea Charities raise funds for Aid for Wounded Warriors.  Team Azalea Charities has grown from 12 runners in 2007 to 248 for this year.  The 2011 Marine Corps Marathon team includes teams of fit and wounded soldiers from the United States, Britain and Denmark.

Frank Lasch, Chairman and Founder of Azalea Charities, comments, “Contributions from the corporate world help our service people as well as the families who stand behind them.  Our support is adapted to the need – ranging from mortgage and rent payments, gas cards and Wal-Mart cards to special needs such as training service dogs and providing services to caregiving families. At the end of the day, our efforts are geared towards the recovery of our wounded men and women in uniform.“
