Rising local racing star to carry Azalea Charities into Late Model division
Dumfries, Va. – Local racing champion Dave Daniels will carry the Azalea Charities colors on the hood of his number 34 late model stock car during the 2011 racing season, Azalea Charities and Dave Daniels Racing announced.
Daniels, a 19-year-old Woodbridge, Va. native, has donated the hood of his new race car to promote support of Azalea Charities, the Dumfries-based non-profit committed to providing aid for Wounded Warriors and other local charities.
“I want to extend Azalea Charities’ thanks to Dave and his race team for their support of our military men and women and their families,” said Azalea Charities Chairman Frank Lasch, Sr. “Having the Azalea Charities logo and ‘Aid For Wounded Warriors’ slogan on the hood of the 34 car is awesome. It’s awesome because race fans throughout this country love our troops, and Dave will help boost the charity’s exposure to these loyal fans.”
After capturing the 2009 and 2010 Mini-Modified Division championships at Manassas, Va.’s Old Dominion Speedway, Daniels is moving up to the ultra-competitive NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Division at Old Dominion Speedway in 2011. The race season starts April 9 with a 75-lap late model event.
“I want to use the connections I’ve made through racing to be a positive asset to Azalea Charities,” Daniels said. “I want to put their information into the hands of the fans that come to be entertained on Saturday nights, and raise both money and awareness for the wonderful work that they do. I’m honored to be involved with Azalea Charities and I truly hope that this becomes a long-term relationship between the two of us. “
Dave Daniels drives for Dave Daniels Racing (www.davedanielsracing.com), a family-owned team run by father Mike Daniels and mother Janie Daniels. The family also runs Daniels Auto Care in Dumfries, which serves as the team’s primary sponsor. An honor-roll student and graduate of Potomac High School, Dave is continuing his education by attending Northern Virginia Community College.
“We wish Dave and the entire team all the best this racing season,” said Lasch. “He’s a champion on the track and a true champion off the track who loves his country and the men and women, and their families, who serve it.”
